The lion rampant crest has been formed by rubbing in a square of silver to the cover of the inkstand. Inside the inkstand is a single inkwell and a covered compartment, possibly a wafer box. The cover of the inkstand has a shell handle to open it. In excellent order with surface wear commensurate with age. Hardly any copper bleed. Approximate dimensions are 12 cm
